Brighton Nightlife Guide: Clubs, Bars and Late Nights
Comedy first, seafront clubs later: where Brighton actually goes out, from Concorde 2 and Chalk to Revenge on Old Steine.
By Only Brighton EditorialThe best nights out in Brighton start with comedy at Komedia or a drink at the Hope & Ruin, then head to the seafront: Concorde 2 for big club nights and gigs on Madeira Drive, Chalk opposite the pier, Patterns on the beachfront, and Revenge on Old Steine, the city's best known LGBTQ+ club. If you would rather stay north of the station, The Joker on Preston Road serves fried chicken and drinks until 2am at weekends. Line ups and hours here were checked in October 2026, and they change weekly, so always check the venue before you queue.
Concorde 2, Madeira Drive
The big one on the seafront, east of the Palace Pier, and a proper rite of passage. Concorde 2 calls itself Brighton's legendary live music venue and nightclub, and the late October diary backs that up: Holdtight with Congo Natty from 11pm on 24 October, Born On Road on 30 October, a Drum and Bass Classics Halloween all dayer from 2pm on 31 October followed by Moody Disco, and HAAi with Planningtorock DJ and Dykes On Decks on 20 November. Early evenings are gigs, late nights are clubs. Check the Concorde 2 listings before you go.
Chalk, Pool Valley
At 13 Pool Valley, opposite the pier, Chalk does live music and club nights in the same building, and bills itself as live, loud and independent. Club nights this month include Fat Poppadaddys Indie Sleaze on 26 October and a Halloween Mela on 27 October, with live shows most nights in between. On 31 October there is a free entry Halloween day party, which is about as Brighton as it gets.
Revenge, Old Steine
Revenge at 32 to 34 Old Steine (tickets and listings here) has been running safe, inclusive nights since 1991 and calls itself Brighton's number one LGBTQ+ venue. It is loud, it is camp and it is a city institution. Its newest night, Out Out, is aimed at a 25 plus queer crowd who want big pop anthems, live performance and fewer teenagers. Everyone is welcome; just come ready to dance.
Patterns, the seafront
Bar, club and gig venue in one, right on the beachfront. Patterns has been putting on club nights since 2015 and holds 400 people in total, with an upstairs space for 275 standing. Saturday afternoons start with a bottomless brunch from 1pm (two hours of drinks and pizza) for anyone who likes to begin early and regret it later. The terrace is a good place to cool off between sets.
Komedia, Gardner Street
A great way to start a night in North Laine. Komedia at 44 to 47 Gardner Street runs the Komedia Comedy Club every Friday and Saturday at 8pm, doors 7pm, and puts on club nights, cabaret and drag around it. This month it is also teamed up with Brighton Dome for the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival, which runs until 25 October 2026.
The Hope & Ruin, Queens Road
Halfway between the station and the clock tower, the Hope & Ruin at 11 Queens Road is a bar with its own gig room, a kitchen until 9pm, and late opening until 2am from Thursday to Saturday. It is the ideal first stop off a train, and the gig listings run deep: Keg on 26 November, Makthaverskan on 3 December.
The Joker, Preston Road
If your night lives north of the station, The Joker at 2 Preston Road is a big friendly pub with Lost Boys fried chicken in the kitchen, a games room upstairs and opening until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Children are welcome until 8pm, and it is dog friendly, which tells you about the vibe.
The Old Market, Hove
For something a bit more grown up, The Old Market on Upper Market Street in Hove mixes comedy, music, theatre and cabaret under one roof. This week alone there is a sold out choir and orchestra night on 23 October and Michael Spicer's show on 24 October. Book, eat on Western Road, then walk down to the seafront bars. It is a quieter, more Hove sort of night, which is no bad thing.
How to do a Brighton night
- Eat first. North Laine and the Lanes are full of places that will feed you before 9pm.
- Start central (Komedia, Hope & Ruin), move to the seafront after 11pm.
- Club nights at Concorde 2 and Chalk often sell out; buy tickets ahead for anything big.
- Bring ID. Late venues ask, and the queue will not wait while you hunt for it.
And if it all goes wrong, chips on the beach at 2am have saved more nights than any taxi.
